About Josh
A neighbor, financial advisor, and steward of Naperville.
Josh McBroom believes public service is about safeguarding what previous generations built, staying accountable to taxpayers, and making decisions that strengthen Naperville for the next generation.

Family first
Home in Naperville for more than 20 years
Josh is a Naperville City Councilman, financial advisor, and longtime community leader. A Naperville resident for more than 20 years, he has spent nearly two decades helping local families and businesses plan for their financial futures.
Josh and his wife, Emily, have three sons. Their oldest is now in college, while their younger sons attend Naperville schools. Emily, a former special education teacher in Indian Prairie School District 204, is now an assistant teacher at Maplebrook Elementary. The family enjoys spending time outdoors with their dog, Lulu, and remains active in the Naperville community.
The same approach at work and on council
Understand the goals. Scrutinize the numbers.
Since 2006, Josh has built his career as a financial advisor by understanding goals, scrutinizing numbers, and developing long-term strategies to maximize every dollar.
That same approach guides his work on the Naperville City Council. First elected in 2023, Josh has developed a reputation for asking difficult questions, challenging assumptions, scrutinizing spending, and advocating for taxpayers. He currently serves as the City Council liaison to the Financial Advisory Board and the Transportation Advisory Board.

Roots in Naperville
This is where they built a life.
The McBrooms didn’t inherit Naperville as a slogan. They chose it, stayed, and raised their sons here. Parks, schools, neighborhoods, and the everyday quality of life in this city are not abstractions to Josh. They are the backdrop of his family’s story.
That is why stewardship matters to him. Protect what works. Improve what doesn’t. Think through the consequences of every major decision, because the next generation will live with those choices.
Service before City Council
Parks, youth, and community boards
Josh was elected to the Naperville Park District Board in 2019 and served there for four years before joining the Naperville City Council.
His community involvement has also included years of volunteer youth coaching and service on nonprofit and healthcare boards, including KidsMatter, Edward-Elmhurst Health, and Linden Oaks Behavioral Health.
His work with KidsMatter has been especially meaningful. He served as a trustee and president of the organization, helping advance its mission of supporting Naperville-area youth and families.
